Inspire Global Innovations
Inspire Global Innovations Ltd (IGI) is a UK-registered medical technology, education, and research company dedicated to advancing safe, effective, and equitable surgical training globally. With a strategic focus on lower-middle-income countries (LMICs), including Nepal, IGI works to expand access to structured, high-quality simulation-based education aligned with internationally recognised standards.
IGI was founded on a simple belief: talent is universal, but opportunity is not. In many LMICs, medical students and early-career doctors have the capability and ambition to innovate but lack structured access to simulation, modern educational tools, and technology-enabled learning. IGI exists to bridge that gap.
Through responsible innovation and ethical global partnerships, IGI remains committed to strengthening surgical education capacity and advancing patient safety worldwide.

Our Purpose & Approach
IGI operates at the intersection of Surgical Simulation, Medical Education, Innovation Innovation Technology-Enhanced Learning, and Global Surgery. Through this integrated model, IGI develops and deploys simulation platforms, digital tools, and structured educational programmes that build technical competence while simultaneously cultivating an innovation mindset among learners.
Central to IGI’s approach is the belief that early, safe, and structured exposure to simulation not only improves patient safety, but also stimulates creative problem-solving, systems thinking, and leadership in future clinicians.
A key component of IGI’s work is LaApSi®️ (Laparoscopic Appendicectomy Simulation), a proprietary surgical simulation platform formally integrated into the Basic Surgical Skills (BSS) Course (7th Edition) of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Sustainable Innovation
IGI promotes sustainable innovation by:
- Developing clinically authentic, scalable simulation solutions suited to resource-constrained environments.
- Supporting local ownership so solutions emerge from community needs.
- Engaging students as co-developers, evaluators, and educators — not just users.
In Nepal, IGI demonstrates how technology-enhanced learning can overcome geographic isolation, faculty shortages, and infrastructure limitations while maintaining alignment with international standards.

Developing Future Innovators
IGI views medical students as future innovators and educators. Our programmes combine simulation-based structured practice, peer-to-peer and student-trainer teaching models, and digital learning platforms enhanced by virtual and augmented reality, remote instruction, and skills-tracking technologies.
By integrating physical simulation with digital tools, IGI enables safe skills acquisition without patient risk, supports remote and cross-border collaboration, and delivers scalable, high-quality training in both high- and low-resource settings.
This blended approach builds confidence, adaptability, and a mindset of continuous improvement — preparing learners not just to work within healthcare systems, but to shape and improve them.
Our Commitment
Through responsible innovation, ethical global partnerships, and a strong educational foundation, Inspire Global Innovations Ltd is committed to:
- Strengthening surgical training capacity in LMICs.
- Empowering medical students with skills, confidence, and an innovation mindset.
- Advancing patient safety and global surgical equity.
By investing early in medical students and enabling learning through simulation, teaching, and technology, IGI aims to help shape a future where geography no longer limits opportunity in medical education.

IT² NEXUS
Innovation Think Tank
IT² NEXUS is the Innovation Think Tank of the Global Surgery Simulation Network (GSSN) and Inspire Global Innovations (IGI). It is a dynamic, bi-monthly innovation platform empowering medical students to transform bold ideas into measurable impact across surgical simulation, medical education, technology-enhanced learning, and global surgery — with strong relevance to LMICs such as Nepal.
The "Squared Innovation" Philosophy
Impact (I) is created when Innovation is amplified through Think (critical reflection) and Tank (collective intelligence), squared to represent iteration, peer refinement, and compounding growth.
Democratising Innovation
IT² NEXUS is an inclusive space where early-stage ideas are welcomed. Participants are encouraged to think ambitiously and develop solutions that are context-driven, practical, and sustainable.
Impactful Collaboration
Ideas become exponentially stronger when shaped by collaboration and continuous improvement, moving from discussion into pilot implementation and broader dissemination.
The Innovation Bursary
Through the Innovation Bursary, selected teams receive catalytic seed funding and strategic support to translate promising concepts into tangible outputs — enabling the next generation of healthcare leaders to shape the future of surgery.
